Zynaptiq - ORANGE VOCODER
Zynaptiq has announced that it will soon release Orange Vocoder 4, an updated version of the classic vocoder effect plugin originally created by Prosoniq.
As far as plugin vocoders go, the ORANGE VOCODER is considered by many to be THE classic one. Critically acclaimed for its sound quality and sonic versatility throughout its many iterations since it was created by Prosoniq in 1998, version 4 expands on both accounts… and then adds some.
Fully reworked from the ground up, we are proud to say that ORANGE VOCODER has truly been zynaptified.
Changes in Orange Vocoder 4
Supports AudioUnits, RTAS, AAX Native, VST 2.4 and VST 3 on macOS, and RTAS, AAX Native, VST 2.4 and VST 3 on Windows.
New, streamlined multi-view UI with killer workflow features, including sub-presets and smart section randomization, and more.
Greatly expanded Vocoder section featuring 22 unique algorithms, formant shifting, expansion, stereo operation, and more.
Completely rewritten, aliasing-free synthesizer section including Unison and Mono Legato operation, thru-zero linear FM, comprehensive modulation options, and more.
New voice pitch quantization module controlled via MIDI input, including pitch-bend and glide.
 
Zynaptiq have released Orange Vocoder IV, the latest version of their popular vocoder plug-in, along with a new Zap III Bundle, a collection which includes ten of the company’s critically acclaimed plug-ins.
Orange Vocoder IV
Orange Vocoder IV comes equipped with 24 vocoder algorithms, multi-algorithm pitch-tuning effects and a powerful virtual analogue synthesizer, promising a no-compromise approach to sound quality and boasting a flexible routing system along with a fun and intuitive workflow.
Each of the vocoder algorithms offer their own distinct sonic character, and are kitted out with features such as formant shifting, EQ and expansion processing, and can be paired with five different automatic tuning effects. The built-in synthesizer has been completely redesigned for the latest version, offering Unison and Mono Legato operation modes in addition to new FM synthesis capabilities and a comprehensive selection of modulation capabilities.
The plug-in’s GUI has also been updated, with a new streamlined multi-view interface allowing for quick access to different modules.
Zap III Bundle
Zynaptiq have also launched the latest version of their flagship bundle, which includes ten of their plug-ins. Aimed at users working in a wide range of audio-related roles — from sound designers and producers through to mix and post production engineers — the collection offers a comprehensive set of tools for creating, transforming, repairing and mastering audio.
The latest version of Orange Vocoder is included, as well as Intensity [reviewed in the September 2018 issue], an innovative plug-in designed to increase the clarity and perceived loudness of a signal.
Compatibility
Orange Vocoder IV is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or 11, and Macs running macOS 10.15 and above. VST2.4, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, and users will require an iLok account for authorisation, but will not need a physical dongle if their machine has internet access.
